Permits Applications and Renewals


The Liquefied Petroleum Gas Board issues permits for all phases of the Industry from small cylinder filling operations to full service retail.

Class 1 Permit

The holder of a Class 1 Permit may engage in any phase of the retail LP Gas Industry including domestic, commercial, industrial, and agricultural within their area of operation. Class 1 Permits expire at the end of each calendar year and will need to be renewed for the next year.

Class 2 Permit

The holder of a Class 2 Permit may engage in the selling and installation of LP-Gas bulk storage containers and piping as well as LP-Gas appliances. Class 2 Permits expire at the end of each calendar year and will need to be renewed for the next year.

Class 3 Permit

The holder of a Class 3 Permit may engage in the filling, selling, and delivery of ICC/DOT cylinders and ASME motor fuel cylinders. Class 3 Permit holders can also establish cylinder exchange stations. Class 3 Permits expire at the end of each calendar year and will need to be renewed for the next year.

Class 4 Permit

The holder of a Class 4 Permit may engage in the selling, installation, and conversion of Autogas equipment on internal combustion engines. Class 4 Permits expire at the end of eachcalendar year and will need to be renewed for the next year.

Class 5 Permit

The holder of a Class 5 Permit may engage in the bulk transportation of LP-Gas. Class 5 Permits expire at the end of each calendar year and will need to be renewed for the next year.

Class 7 Permit

The holder of a Class 7 Permit may engage in the filling of permanently mounted containers on vehicles through the operation of an Autogas Service Station. Class 7 Permits expire at the end of each calendar year and will need to be renewed for the next year.

Class 8 Permit

The holder of a Class 8 Permit may engage in the selling and distribution of LP-Gas through the operation of pipeline terminals, rail terminals, and refineries. Class 8 Permits expire at the end of each calendar year and will need to be renewed for the next year.

Class 9 Permit

The holder of a Class 9 Permit may engage in the manufacturing and selling of LP-Gas containers. Class 9 Permits expire at the end of each calendar year and will need to be renewed for the next year.

Class 10 Permit

The holder of a Class 10 Permit may engage in the installation of LP-Gas piping and appliances in buildings both domestic and commercial. Individuals holding a Master Plumber's License are exempt from this Permit requirement. Class 10 Permits expire at the end of each calendar year and will need to be renewed for the next year.
